Waste lands. Analysing digital artistic practices

Abstract

This paper looks at whether digital artistic practices really constitute a closed world and, thus, can be analysed on their own terms, or whether the study needs contextual analysis, relating them to their surroundings. In this case, possible surroundings would include contemporary art in general, which, indeed, has often quickly legitimated this type of practice. We need to ask, however, whether this fast track legitimisation has not highlighted the lack of knowledge and understanding on both sides.
