Pere Cantarero

Abstract

This research looks to analyse the effect of the Internet on the tourism sector in Majorca and Minorca in 2002, 2003 and the first four months of 2004. The research is framed in terms of the emergence of the Network Society, a social structure characteristic of the Information Age. The main economic and a range of other activities are being restructured via the internet, which is transforming business practices–in all their processes. Thus, the aim is to analyse the relevance of the internet with regard to supply and demand in the tourism business in Majorca and Minorca; by analysing the relationship that makes the internet an interactive organisational and management tool, not just a technological innovation.
